Me in a nutshell
I like to color outside the lines but I usually manage to stay on the page. Originally from the Adirondacks in New York State, I lived in Munich, Germany, for about 20 years, where I worked as a translator and journalist, covering everything from travel to politics to recovery of art that ended up in the wrong hands during and after World War II. After moving back to the U.S., I lived in the Boston area for about 12 years, working in corporate communications, while doing freelance writing and translating on the side. In 2010 I moved back to the Adirondacks, where I am now a full-time freelance writer, translator and editor.
Favorite quotations
Maybe the quotes I have hanging on my wall say it all: 1) Let the end of the world catch you dancing; 2) There's no time like the present. But then again, there's no present like time; 3) One who has mastered the art of living simply pursues her vision of excellence at whatever she does, leaving others to decide whether she is working or playing.
Dreams
Although my bags are generally packed and ready to go, I travel through life with little baggage. Present time is the best place to be. I tend to set stakes and move toward them, I have a passion for life and like to dream the dream that seems impossible and then figure out a way to make it come true. I firmly believe that, if you can picture it, you can make it happen. And that everything happens for a reason. Some people make life happen and others just let life happen to them. I prefer to stay in the former camp.
